Hello. You have somehow arrived here.

My name is Adrian A. Baumann, and this is my website — a carefully curated collection of interests, experiments, half-finished projects, and things that felt like a good idea at the time. I am an IT security specialist by trade, which means I spend a significant portion of my life explaining to people why the computer is not “just broken” and why “Password123!” is, in fact, not a strong password. (“But it contains capitals, lower case, numbers and a symbol!” - yeah, no. Still not.)

When I’m not teaching others how not to get hacked, I occupy myself with photography, preferably of places that are abandoned, derelict, or otherwise unlikely to complain about being photographed. Graveyards, long exposures, gloomy cityscapes, and places my insurance company would rather I avoid feature heavily. I like darkness, texture, and things that look better after midnight.

My work on abandonment, obsolete structures, and the entirely unnecessary but increasingly established discipline of Enkataleiptics lives at https://www.baumann.gr.

In an effort to ensure I never become bored, I also tinker with electronics, point industrial lasers at perfectly good materials, invent words that nobody asked for, write code, and build physical objects whose usefulness is sometimes apparent only in retrospect. Those creations, along with the code that makes some of them behave, can be found at https://works.baumann.gr and https://git.baumann.gr.

I also brew small batches of beer that generally turn out drinkable. These have been granted their own corner of the internet at https://www.baumanns-beer.ch, presumably to prevent them contaminating the other projects.

What’s not on any of the pages mentioned is documented here. Some of it probably shouldn’t be.

This site is built as an ongoing experiment in digital entropy. Sections may move, disappear, or reappear without warning. Content may be unfinished. Projects may remain “in progress” indefinitely. This is not a bug — it’s a feature.

If you’re here for photography, security, lasers, beer, obsolete machinery, unnecessary electronics, or mild existential confusion, you’re in the right place. If you’re looking for a polished, minimalist personal brand, you may wish to lower your expectations.
