The Cressier Refinery

Last night, the Delta Aquarid meteor shower peaked – or so I was told. I had planned to go up to Chasseral to escape the city’s light pollution and conduct a very scientific study (read: lounge in a recliner looking at the sky for half the night), but on my way up, it became clear that I’d just be looking at the underside of a mostly unbroken cloud cover. So I reassessed my plans and – having my night photography kit with me already – detoured to the crude oil refinery in Cressier. This is one of only two refineries in Switzerland and has caught my eyes several times when driving past at night, because it’s lit up like a christmas tree. To cut a long story short, there’s a couple of photos over at my gallery page.
